Mumbai: The Centre for Promoting Indian Economy – the CPIE has launched a national campaign – Save India’s Forests which has taken off with the enrollment of several influencers to bring out the importance of “Forest Economy”. This is the third time the CPIE India has organised similar campaigns across the country.
The campaign begins online from 15th November and will continue till Feb-March 2026. It includes six press conferences in six different cities with leading dignitaries, Bollywood celebrities, influencers and others who will support the campaign. The first project will be in Mumbai in November, followed by Goa in December 2025.
Speaking to media persons in Mumbai at a press conference, a CPIE spokesperson said that the campaign will reach out to foreign media as well.
India’s forests have a very diverse and delicate eco-system consisting of flora and fauna – millions of insects, butterflies and other living organisms and creatures inhabit these forests and form part of a very sensitive and delicate eco-system which just cannot be transplanted or replicated elsewhere, the CPIE said.
Merely transplanting trees will not replicate the delicate eco-systems which have taken millions of years to form and develop.
Rampant cutting of forests even for development projects will permanently destroy these delicate eco-systems, making thousands of unique creatures extinct, the CPIE stated. For more details visit the CPIE website or contact them on Facebook.
