MUMBAI: According to an India Today report, the municipal council elections in Maharashtra are likely to be held between November 15 and 20, followed by Zilla Parishad elections around December 15 or 20. Elections for all municipal corporations, including the cash-rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), may take place on January 15.
While the India Today report claimed the elections are likely to be held on Jan 15, Opinion Today sources claimed the polls could be held anywhere between the 10th to 20 of January 2025.
Amid preparations for the civic polls, the BJP has downplayed the buzz over Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray reuniting with his cousin and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, saying that their joining hands will not impact the outcome of the elections.
On Saturday last, the MNS and MVA leaders came to protest against “fake voters” and manipulated poll lists in Maharashtra. Their campaign is expected to move to various parts of Maharashtra over the month of November.
