MUMBAI: According to the latest gossip in Bollywood, director Maneesh F Singh known for his bold subjects like the film “Green Terror” and “Wild Wild Punjab” is working on a new project reportedly on the early life and times of cricketing wonder Jemimah Jessica Rodrigues who brought name and fame to herself and India when her terrific innings in the semi finals of the Women’s World Cup, got Indian into the final.
Jemi as she is known fondly, is an Indian cricketer, aspiring singer and sportswoman. She is a middle-order batter who plays for the Indian women’s national team. She was part of the Indian team that won the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup, and the Women’s Asia Cup in 2022. Representing India, she won a gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games and silver medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Jemimah represents Mumbai in domestic cricket and plays for the Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League. She plays for Brisbane Heat in the Australian Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). She has also played for Supernovas and Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge, Yorkshire Diamonds in the Women’s Cricket Super League, Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars in the WBBL, Northern Superchargers in The Hundred, and Trinbago Knight Riders in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League.
Maneesh F Singh while speaking to this reporter said he was toying with the idea of making a film on the cricketing and internet sensation. “Yes I am definitely working on the subject. My team has started research on the project. Jemi is a super-talented, multi-faceted girl and her story of struggle definitely deserves to be told via a film,” Singh said.
