MUMBAI: Speaking to a local news outlet in Mumbai, director Maneesh F Singh, who is known for his controversial projects, said he is working on a new OTT web series based on a fictional and mythological story. He is attempting to recreate a Wolverine-like character – from the famous Hollywood X-men film franchise, in the Indian project that will be out on floors next month. The project will originally be in Tamil with subtitles in Hindi and English.
“One of my all time favourite Hollywood characters is Wolverine from the ‘X-Men’ film franchise played by Hugh Jackman. The character has an aura of its own and it is primarily due to Jackman’s persona and acting skills. When we started working on a mythological project for a fictional web series, one of my first suggestions was to incorporate a Wolverine-like character. And that is how the concept of the flying wolf with a monkey-like tail was born. We are still working at the drawing board stage. There is a lot of animation and VFX involved in this project and a lot of planning goes into the creation and preparation of the characters,” Maneesh F Singh said.
The project will be shot in Hyderabad, Mumbai and around the outskirts of Pune and will go on floors in mid-December. The story covers the strange creature with a human body and face, but inhuman characteristics who encounters a group of kids playing near a forest. The kids report the creature to their parents and neighbours, who refuse to believe them. The creature only appears to the kids and in spite of the best efforts of the parents, elders and police they are unable to lure the creature out into the open.
Maneesh F Singh has done two Tamil films and a Bollywood project featuring former Bigg Boss contestant Arshi Khan called “The Green Terror”. Most of his projects are based on true-life incidents or happenings.
