PANAJI: In two separate shocking incidents reported from Baga and Arpora areas of the North Goa coastal tourist belt, two shops, Revive Hair cutting salon, Baga, and Whiskey Pedia, Arpora, were seen having displayed slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” on electric LED boards.

A crowd of people gathered as the news spread among locals and the local police were informed.

The Calangute and Anjuna police teams who rushed to the spot apprehended all persons running or managing the shops and disconnected and shut down the LED boards, on Tuesday night. The news spread like wildfire in North Goa and particularly on WhatsApp groups.

FIRs are being registered in both police stations under sections 152 r/w 61(2) of BNS and section 66C and 66F of IT Act. Further enquiry is going on, said police officials who spoke to media persons. According to one police source, the display boards are computer operated and there is a possibility that the digital computer driven board systems were hacked or tampered with.

“The boards were put up without taking any permissions. We have already taken action against the accused,” said chief minister Pramod Sawant who was quizzed by media persons on Wednesday.
