MUMBAI: The BMC elections in Mumbai have not yet been anounced, but all political parties are now in over drive, trying to reach out to voters.

With an eye on the upcoming BJP elections, the BJP on Thursday announced a programme titled “Baheen Ladki Bhaubij Devabhaunchi” in six districts of Mumbai.

The BJP in Mumbai is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a thumping victory for itself in the the BMC polls. “It is a matter of prestige for the CM and the entire Maharasthra BJP unit to ensure that the party wins in a big way in the polls, said a local leader.

While the focus is on networking for the polls, the program is aimed at maximising the ruling party’s outreach among women voters, capitalising on the popularity of the earlier Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana — under which women get a monthly dole of Rs 1,500—and projecting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as the “most popular brother in Maharashtra”, reported the Indian Express.

According to the Indian Express report, the outreach programme will feature songs by famous singer Vaishali Samant, followed by Matru Shakti gatherings in various districts. Along with this, Vande Mataram will be sung at six places in Mumbai on Friday to mark the 150th anniversary of the national song, said the BJP’s Mumbai president and MLA, Ameet Satam who is spearheading the progam. According to party workers and local leaders, all unit heads have been instructed to hit the road, ensure that no household and no voter is left out.
