In the run up to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has issued a strong call for vigilance and unity.

Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls, Thackeray called it the “last crucial election” for the Marathi community.

At the inauguration of the MNS’ Konkan Mahotsav on Sunday, Raj Thackeray urged workers and voters to stay “vigilant” ahead of the BMC elections.

Thackeray, whose party has often been accused of targeting non-Marathi speakers, said the political atmosphere around the city’s civic polls was becoming increasingly tense and demanded caution.

“For the Marathi people, this BMC election will be the last crucial election,” he said. “If we remain careless, consider it gone from our hands.” He added that “if Mumbai slips out of our hands, these people will create havoc.” Mumbai will no longer be a place for the Marathi Manoos, Thackeray said.
